Bohemian Christmas Home Tour
I’m all about colour so I’m sure it comes as no surprise that my Christmas is very colourful; especially pink. I also love a Bohemian vibe so my home is covered with lots of garlands, textures, and layers with a lot of eclectic whimsical flare. Christmas is just my favourite season to decorate for because I really do find I can let my inner child out and no one really calls me on it. Or maybe I’m just good at ignoring it.
Think Pink and Think Vintage. I try to source most of my Christmas decorations either from thrift stores, vintage stores, or on a big sale after the holidays are over. I also like to find as much pink as possible. Like this amazing flocked pink vintage tree I scored from a local Vintage Shop Back To The Fuchsia, where I also scored the vintage pink ornaments.
Of course it wouldn’t be the Mohr Living home without a lot of textiles. I like changing it up for every season and this year went pink, red, cream and navy with mixed patterns and textures. Not so out of the ordinary for me, although red isn’t a colour I usually gravitate towards. It did end up blending nicely though.
The tree is always the hardest for me. I see these pictures of beautifully styled trees with their flocked branches, neat ribbon trailing, colour scheme all in order but this just doesn’t work for us. First, we have a one year old who is constantly pulling things off the tree. Two, we have such a wide collection of ornaments and each one is so near and dear. Three, we have a small home where having more than one tree would be impossible. So, we try to switch up the colours on our base plastic ornaments each year but other than that we have a very family friendly tree with all of our special ornaments strewn around (glass up high of course).
Like I mentioned a bit above we try to be very frugal with spending on our Christmas decor. Almost everything either came from The Dollar Store (all of my bottle brush trees), Michael’s (with a coupon of course), The Real Canadian Superstore (usually we use our PC Points on fun things like decor), and Winners or Homesense. We also spend most of the dollars after Christmas and get items on sale for the following year. Hope you all enjoyed our Christmas home.
